Fuel Like a TDF Champion

image

By The Feed.

As the 2024 Tour de France passes into history, we are looking back at what the champions of this year's race used to fuel. From the intensity of mountain stages to the sheer speed of sprint stages, here is what the jersey holders fueled with.

The tour has officially come to an end, and the results are in for review. And we've got some exclusive intel on what the winners used to catapult them to victory.

The Maillot Jaune

Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar awed us with his trademark kick-up steep climbs, catching breakaways, and leading the peloton. You might be wondering what nutrition he is using… the answer is Enervit, a coveted brand in Europe and considered one of the most innovative sports nutrition brands.

We are lucky enough to import Enervit exclusively at The Feed. Today’s deal is a limited edition Enervit Gel Pack for only $42 (a 20% savings).

A Few Highlights from the Enervit Gel Pack: Enervit Liquid Energy: Pro athletes love Enervit Liquid Energy. It is a pure liquid, not a gel, so it goes down super fast. You screw off the top and drink it for instant energy, and there is nothing sticky about it. Be prepared to hit the turbos on your run or ride. The energy boost kicks in quickly (faster than most gels) and is noticeable. Each pack offers 30g of carbs with 25mg of caffeine and 120 calories per pack.

Enervit’s Pro Carbo Gel:

Formulated with a simple blend of 2:1 Glucose to Fructose carbohydrates, Pro Carbo Gel is a more traditional gel in terms of texture and what athletes go for as a high-carb fueling option (40g of carbs per serving). In this pack, there are a mix of flavors, and caffeinated and non-caffeinated options so you can find your next favorite.

The Maillot Vert

Biniam Girmay secured the Green Jersey with the help of Maurten. Here is what he told us about his fueling strategy:

90 minutes before the start of the race, he starts with the Maurten Bicarb System to boost his endurance. 15 Minutes before the race, he fuels up with Maurten Gel 100 and fills up his water bottle with Maurten Drink Mix 160.

During the stage, Girmay fuels with one bottle of Maurten Drink Mix 320, four bottles of Maurten Drink Mix 160, four Maurten 100 gels, and one Caffeinated Maurten 100 Gel. Carbs win races.

Today is the last day you can shop the Maurten Tour Pack $35 (Save 25%).

  • 2 x Packets of Drink Mix 160

  • 1 x Packet of Drink Mix 320 regular

  • 1 x Packet of Drink Mix 320 caffeinated

  • 2 x Maurten Gel 100

  • 2 x Maurten Gel 100 Caf 100

  • 2 x Maurten Solid 160 Bars

  • 1 x 500ml (17oz) Maurten Water Bottle

The Maillot Blanc

Remco Evenepoel proved he is the up and comer to watch with his acquisition of the White Jersey.

The young superstar’s fuel of choice is 6d Sports Nutrition, a brand inspired by athletes and driven by science.

6d provides its athletes with a variety of products including three different kinds of gels, isotonic drink mix and delicious fruit chews. Each delivering a range of carb content to fit individual athletes' fueling needs. A favorite is the Ultra Gel, providing a fast 45g of carbs when and where you need it.

Maillot À Pois

Richard Carapaz of team EF Education-EasyPost took home the mountains classification this Tour De France, winning the Polka Dot Jersey assisted by Amacx. Specifically, their athletes are guzzling down the Drink Gel and Turbo Gels – tasty, watery, and smooth.

Amacx has been a consistency among race winners over the last two years and for good reason. They have a very strong feeling for the pulse of where sports nutrition needs are – thus why they are formed by athletes, for athletes.

And The GOAT:

Stage 5 winner, Sir Mark Cavendish cemented his place in the Tour de France history with his 35th stage win, giving him the most stage victories of all time. His fuel of choice is SiS Beta Fuel Nootropics. This high-carb gel contains a 1:0.8 Maltodextrin to Fructose ratio and produces big results, serving up victories without upset stomachs. Packed with 200mg of caffeine, these gels are designed to help athletes perform at their peak cognitive ability, promoting attention, focus, and motivation.
