I'm back and diving headfirst into a new training protocol that's absolutely crushing me – in the best and worst way possible. Here's what I'm doing right now, and the products that are making a difference.
David and Megan Roche have been preaching uphill treadmill workouts for months now. Beth Mackenzie (trained by Megan) swears by them too. I finally decided to stop being a skeptic and actually try them.
Week two in, and holy hell.
Doesn't matter your sport or even if you want to get faster at running. These workouts are something everyone should be doing.
The Uphill Treadmill Protocol That's Destroying Me
Here's what I'm doing: 8 to 10 sets of 2 minutes at 8% incline with 1 minute rest between. No idea if this is good (David, if you're reading this, am I doing it right?), but it's definitely working.
Do I feel stronger? Yes. Am I also completely wrecked after every session? Also yes.
These workouts demand a different fueling and supplement approach than my usual rides. Here's the protocol I've dialed in over the past two weeks:
Wake up: Nomio Shot + 2 SwissRX Nitric Oxide Pro pills
Breakfast: Beet-it Sport Nitrate Shot (getting those nitrates in early)
Pre-workout: 1x Amacx Gel as I start
During: Dr. Hydrate (loving this new hydration)
Immediately post: Ketone-IQ Shot with Caffeine (this has become non-negotiable for recovery) and let's me not have that mental exhaustion post workout so I can get to work.
When I get to the office: The Feed Lab Protein Shake with Creapure Creatine powder.
The nitric oxide stack in the morning (Nomio + Nitric Oxide Pro + Beet-it) has made a noticeable difference in how my legs feel during those brutal 2-minute intervals. More oxygen-rich blood flow means I can push harder before everything starts burning.
The post-workout Ketone shot? Game-changer. It bridges that gap between finishing destroyed and being a functional human again. Then the protein shake seals the recovery deal.
My Gut Was a Mess (Now It's Not)
Speaking of feeling wrecked—my gut has been off lately. More gas than normal, bloating, just generally uncomfortable. I think it's been a few years since I did a proper gut reset, and between training stress and life stress, things got out of whack.
I went back to a protocol I haven't talked about in forever: SwissRX Gut Health paired with SwissRX Gut Defense.
Think of it like this:
Gut Health = Cleanse your gut
It's an IgG immunoglobulin that attaches itself to bad bacteria in your gut so you can eliminate it. Like Pac-Man eating all the bad stuff that's been building up.
Gut Defense = Heal your gut
This creates a protective coating so your gut lining can actually repair itself while you're training hard.
I'm only one week in and already feel a massive difference. Less gas, less bloating, everything just feels... calmer. The best part? Do this protocol for 4-6 weeks and you're reset for months (or longer) with no more gut issues.
Right now I'm mixing Creapure Creatine powder + Gut Defense in milk every morning. Tastes like chocolate milk. Fixes my gut. Keeps me consistent with creatine. Three birds, one glass.
What's Trending Right Now
Dream Shot continues to be our absolute top seller, and the feedback from athletes keeps shocking me. If you haven't tried it yet for sleep, seriously—get on it. Nothing will do more for your recovery and performance than better sleep. Remember, it's the first peptide specifically designed for sleep—PeptiSleep blocks those middle-of-the-night cortisol spikes that wake you up at 2am. I keep mine in the fridge (not required, but I like it cold) and set it on my nightstand before bed so it's right there.
Momentous Creatine Chews just launched, and I tried them this morning. Loved them. They're more like SourTarts than traditional gummy chews—1g of creatine per chew. Here's why this matters: I've heard there's testing showing that most creatine gummies on the market have no active creatine in them. The heating process used to make gummies destroys the creatine. (I'm tracking down the actual study, but this makes total sense.)
Momentous uses Creapure (the gold standard) and doesn't heat-process them into oblivion. I had 5 chews this morning and threw a ziplock bag in my backpack. I still use powder in my protein shake when I make one, but I don't have a shake every day. These chews finally let me stay consistent with my daily creatine without thinking about it.
First Endurance Multi-V + CurranNZ. David Roche went absolutely nuts on his podcast and in an email about how much he loves First Endurance Multi-V. He said he can't live without it and takes it post-workout combined with CurranNZ.
If David loves something, I'm paying attention. CurranNZ is a New Zealand blackcurrant extract with a radical following among elite athletes for recovery and performance gains. The anthocyanins in blackcurrants improve blood flow and reduce inflammation—similar benefits to tart cherry but with a different compound profile.
I'm adding this to my protocol. Will report back.
Nomio is absolutely flying off the shelves right now. Cole Hocker just won the 5,000-meter world championships a few weeks ago, and word got out he's been using it.
While it's marketed as a performance product (and it definitely works for that), I think it's actually the ultimate daily green drink. Those green powders everyone's obsessed with? They can't even come close to the efficacy of Nomio, where you're getting the equivalent of 2 full kilograms of broccoli sprouts per shot.
I take mine right when I wake up. Keep it in the fridge overnight (makes it last longer and I like it cold), then set it by the sink the night before so it's the first thing I see in the morning. Get Nomio here.
My Current Daily Routine
Since a few people have asked what I'm taking consistently right now:
Morning:
Nomio Shot (first thing)
SwissRX Synthesis (4 capsules)
SwissRX Nitric Oxide Pro (2 pills)
Orthomol Immun (I love the B12 shot, and this seems to keep me from getting sick as fall hits)
Maui Nui Velvet Antler (new addition, more on this soon)
Creatine + Gut Defense in milk (tastes like a chocolate milk)
Before bed:
Gut Health (during my 4-6 week reset)
That's where I'm at heading into November. The uphill treadmill workouts are humbling me, but I'm getting stronger. My gut feels better than it has in months. And I'm sleeping like I'm 30 again (I'm not).
