Routines are the foundation of an athlete's growth, consistency, and success over time. As we dive into routines further, we wanted to start with one we see practiced and cared for across the board of pro sport: gut health.
The other day, I wrote about the importance of routines in the new year, starting with hydration. If you missed it, check it out here. Routines are the thing that help you remain committed all year long to the goal of being a great athlete. I’ve mentioned it before, and I’ll mention it again: I’ve spent nearly 20 years studying the routines of pro athletes, and among the many habits I noticed how they work on resolving gut issues is crucial for performance.
Cramping. Bloating. Nausea. The occasional diarrhea. It doesn’t have to be like this. There are so many variables for why athletes suffer abdominally at truly inconvenient times. Whether it’s the prolonged nature of our intense activity, dehydration, high nutritional intake, or just good ole heat and stress, we all have our war stories.
Truly, the gut has a mind of its own sometimes and we get into that topic a bit more on our blog, here. In the meantime, here’s what you can do about your gut:
SwissRX Gut Defense is the ultimate solution for your gut.
Based on personal experience and watching athletes improve their gut health, I’ll co-sign. SwissRX Gut Defense is a pharmaceutical-grade supplement that helps soothe GI distress, strengthening the junctions between gut cells and sealing up leaks. It’s perfect for athletes dealing with gut issues that limit their performance.
When you take SwissRX Gut Defense, it delivers essential nutrients that rebuild your gut lining and calm inflamed tissue, keeping harmful toxins from entering your bloodstream. This is highly effective stuff.
SwissRX Gut Defense is a great start on your path to gut health because it reduces inflammation and supports beneficial gut bacteria which is such an important factor in rebuilding the gut barrier. Incorporate this one into your day-to-day and you’ll be friends with your gut in no time.
Everyday Practices
But there are other everyday routines you could be practicing as well, like optimizing your pre-workout nutrition. Avoid high-fiber, high-fat and complex foods in the 1-2 hour window before you exercise. I’d even recommend that you have your pre-workout meal even 3 hours before heading out whenever possible.
You should also make sure you’re matching your supplements to your workout, like gels, chews or drink mixes for the hard days, and dense carb bars for the slower days. When you’ve got the right fuel, you’ve got the right gut.
Hydration
And whenever I’m talking about the right formula for a great workout, I’ve always got to bring up hydration. Definitely monitor your fluid balance and stay on top of your electrolytes. We’ve got a number of excellent products to help you with that–check out Mortal Hydration, for one.
Why? Hydration is sort of the foundation of all workout success. Not only does it serve the many many functions pertaining to performance and general homeostasis, but it is essential for optimal digestive function and overall gut health.
These are all great options for someone looking to improve their gut health in the new year, and they can be implemented as soon as possible.
But if you’re looking for more long term strategies and solutions, think about doing some research on probiotics and an anti-inflammatory diet. You can also reach out to The Feed and we’ll try to help you with this.
In the meantime, start with the SwissRX Gut Defense and incorporate the tips I’ve listed above.
Your gut can thank me later.
