Lauren de Crescenzo (LDC) took a commanding win (and her third in a row) at The RAD. On the heels of recovering from a broken collarbone, she showed up ready to race and took a leap of faith around 90mi out from the finish.
Lauren De Crescenzo is unstoppable.
Over the weekend, LDC crushed it again at the Rad Dirt Fest, taking first place for the third time! Every time she’s shown up to this race, she’s won.
And this time? She won it by snagging an early lead and holding that lead for 90 miles. All while recovering from a broken collarbone. What?
It's safe to say she's not a dark horse, but this was an unexpected move for anyone.
But what fuels her drive? What can give her the confidence to establish a lead, settle into a pace, and hold it?
Well, she says it best:
“Carbs, carbs, carbs…I was by myself for 90 miles, so I had to keep reminding myself to eat.” - LDC
Lauren powered up with 100g of liquid carbs per hour in a combo of:
SIS Beta Fuel (her favorite flavor is Strawberry and Lime)
SiS Beta Fuel Nootropics near the end for a 200mg kick of caffeine
Skratch Super Fuel in 1-liter bottles for high-carb hydration (she had 4 in total during her 5:41:10 ride)
While SiS kept her going strong, Lauren is the textbook definition of grit and tenacity. Hedging her bets, taking chances, and leaning into it!
We'd say third time is the charm, but it seems every time is the charm.
Keep grinding that gravel, LDC!
