Thorne's Ultimate-E is built to give those membranes broader protection, delivering 1,000mg of mixed tocopherols per gelcap so you get all four naturally occurring tocopherol forms working together instead of just alpha-tocopherol on its own.
Full-spectrum tocopherols – Alongside 500 IU of d-alpha tocopherol, this gelcap includes beta, gamma, and delta tocopherols in their naturally occurring ratio, which research suggests has a stronger effect against lipid peroxidation than alpha-tocopherol alone.
Protects cell membranes from oxidative damage – Vitamin E works as a chain-breaking antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals before they can damage the fats that make up your cell membranes.
Not diluted with soy oil filler – Thorne's vitamin E is extracted from a mixture of vegetable oils, including soy, but molecular distillation removes the allergenic soy residue rather than leaving soy oil in as a cheap filler.
Vitamin E functions as a fat-soluble antioxidant, meaning it works in fat deposits, cell membranes, and lipoproteins rather than in the watery parts of your body. It neutralizes free radicals by reacting with them directly, breaking the chain reaction that would otherwise keep damaging nearby lipids. Because different tocopherol forms distribute somewhat differently through the body's tissues, a full-spectrum mixed tocopherol product covers more ground than an alpha-tocopherol-only supplement. Vitamin E has also been studied for its role in supporting cardiovascular health.
How to Use Thorne Ultimate-E
Dose: Take one gelcap one to three times daily, or as recommended by your health-care practitioner.
With a fat-containing meal: Vitamin E is fat-soluble, so pairing it with a meal that has some fat in it improves absorption more than taking it on an empty stomach.
Note: This product contains bovine gelatin, so it's not a fit if you're vegan or vegetarian.
