Product Description
Top endurance athletes now take in 120 g of carbohydrate an hour as the standard, which keeps the glucose and fructose transporters in the gut working near capacity. Those transporters need time to facilitate the carbohydrates you eat into working muscle. Lactate, endurance enemy #1, has actually been hiding the key to instant energy all along.
The New Fuel Is Here
Lactate has always gotten blamed for the burn in a hard effort, yet your muscles burn it for fuel, and your body makes more of it as intensity climbs. Lactate you ingest crosses the gut through monocarboxylate transporters, a separate set of gateways from the ones glucose and fructose use. Elite athletes have been testing lactate as a fuel in races for a couple years, and now you can too.
SANTAMADRE Lactate 60 Gel is a liquid energy gel that pairs 40 g of carbohydrate in a 1:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio with 60 millimoles of lactate.
A secondary fuel for hard efforts – Lactate reaches your bloodstream through its own transporters, so it adds energy to your plan without adding to the glucose and fructose traffic. It becomes available to your working muscles within about 15 minutes. That’s 2x faster than fructose and 3x faster than glucose.
Carbs that use both gut pathways – The gel is completely liquid, and its equal parts glucose and fructose split the 40 g of carbohydrate evenly across both pathways.
Shaped by elite race testing – Months of research and hundreds of hours of testing with elite athletes went into Lactate 60, including the fueling strategy around Yomif Kejelcha's 1:59:41 London Marathon debut.
How to Use SANTAMADRE Lactate 60 Gel
Use: Take it during your most demanding efforts or races, when fatigue is stacking up and you want every fuel source working for you. Take one gel right after your warm-up for efforts under 3 hours, then one more before a key moment in the race, or roughly every 40 minutes once you pass the first hour.
Dosing One gel an hour delivers 40 g of carbohydrate, 60 millimoles of lactate and 250 mg of sodium. Three an hour is listed for professionals with training on it only.
Options: Pick OFF CAF or 100 CAF to match your plan, and practice with it at race intensity before race day.
