Pure Encapsulations OptiFerin-C FAQ's
Everything you need to know before getting started.

Ferrochel® is iron bonded to the amino acid glycine, creating a chelated form that your intestinal cells absorb rapidly and efficiently. Standard ferrous sulfate dumps free iron into your gut, causing nausea, constipation, and cramping. Ferrochel® avoids this by using a controlled-release mechanism through your intestinal lining.
This is one of the most common concerns with iron supplements, and it's the main reason OptiFerin-C uses Ferrochel® bisglycinate. The chelated form is absorbed through a different pathway than standard iron, which dramatically reduces GI side effects. Most athletes tolerate it very well.
Most athletes notice improvements in energy within 2–4 weeks. Ferritin levels typically take 8–12 weeks to meaningfully increase with consistent supplementation. Monitor with bloodwork to track your progress.
Get a blood test that checks both ferritin and hemoglobin. For endurance athletes, ferritin below 35 ng/mL indicates low stores that can impair performance — even if hemoglobin looks normal. Symptoms include persistent fatigue, poor recovery, feeling breathless on easy efforts, and declining performance despite consistent training.
