Product Description
Electrolyte drinks loaded with 1,000mg of sodium or more sound like serious performance fuel. But there's a problem that comes with this level of concentration: mix a high-sodium drink with fuel from gels and the combined concentration of particles in your gut tips into hypertonic territory. That means your gut actually pulls water away from your muscles to dilute it, and that's what's behind the bloating, nausea, and GI cramping that derails so many race nutrition plans.
PILLAR Performance Electrolyte Hydration was built specifically for that. This is the hydration mix engineered around osmolarity so your gut keeps working no matter what else you're taking in.
Evidence-Based Sodium Serving – PILLAR delivers 400mg of sodium per serving — the evidence-based target aligned with ACSM guidance. That's enough to drive fluid absorption in your gut, maintain blood plasma volume during exercise, and trigger your thirst response at the right time. It's also precisely formulated so that when you combine it with an energy gel on race day, the total osmolarity stays in the ideal isotonic range (~289 mOsm/kg) instead of tipping hypertonic.
Rapid Absorption Formula – On its own, PILLAR Electrolyte Hydration sits at approximately 100–130 mOsm/kg — well into hypotonic territory. That means it absorbs faster than your blood plasma, delivering sodium, potassium, and magnesium — the three minerals that keep your muscles firing and your fluid balance on track — without competing with your fuel.
Clean Daily Formula – No sugar, no calories worth counting, naturally flavored and sweetened with stevia and monk fruit. Vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free. Every batch is Informed Sport Certified, so it's clean for competition at any level.
How to Use PILLAR Performance Electrolyte Hydration
Before training: Mix one 7g scoop or sachet into 500–750ml of water and drink in the 30–60 minutes before your session begins. Starting your workout already hydrated matters more than most athletes realize.
During training or racing: Sip throughout your session. For longer efforts, dilute one scoop into up to 1L of water. If you're taking gels, keep going — the formula is designed so the combined osmolarity stays gut-friendly.
Daily hydration: It works just as well off the bike or out of your run shoes. First thing in the morning when you wake up slightly dehydrated is one of the best times to use it. Up to 4 servings per day.
Elite endurance athletes, including Ironman champions and professional cyclists, have adopted PILLAR's hydration system specifically because it eliminates the GI variable on race day. When your gut works, your race plan works.

PILLAR Performance Electrolyte Hydration FAQ's
Everything you need to know about PILLAR Performance Electrolyte Hydration.

High-sodium electrolyte products sound like serious performance fuel, but the dose creates a problem when combined with gels — the combined osmolarity tips hypertonic, meaning your gut has to pull water away from your muscles to dilute it, which is the mechanism behind the bloating and cramping that derails race nutrition plans. PILLAR's 400mg is the evidence-based target aligned with ACSM guidance — enough to drive fluid absorption, maintain blood plasma volume, and trigger your thirst response at the right time, without creating the osmolarity conflict that higher-dose products introduce.
Osmolarity measures the concentration of particles dissolved in a liquid — the lower the number, the faster it absorbs relative to your blood plasma. PILLAR sits at approximately 100–130 mOsm/kg on its own, which is well into hypotonic territory, meaning it absorbs faster than plasma and gets sodium and fluid into your system quickly. When you combine it with a carbohydrate gel, the total lands at approximately 289 mOsm/kg — the isotonic range where absorption is optimal and your gut isn't stressed.
The formula is specifically designed for combined use with gels. Because PILLAR uses 400mg of sodium rather than a high-dose approach, the total osmolarity of the drink plus a typical energy gel stays within the isotonic range rather than crossing into hypertonic territory. That's the key distinction between this and most electrolyte products — it was engineered to work alongside your fuel, not compete with it.
Because those are the three most meaningfully lost through sweat and most impactful on performance. Sodium drives fluid regulation and is the dominant sweat electrolyte. Potassium works in balance with sodium to maintain fluid across cell membranes and supports muscle contraction. Magnesium covers sweat losses and supports ATP synthesis and muscle function. Adding more electrolytes at trace doses increases osmolarity without delivering meaningful performance benefit — the formula is built around what the research supports, not what reads well on the label.
Yes — PILLAR Electrolyte Hydration is completely caffeine-free, making it appropriate at any time of day including evening sessions and pre-sleep hydration. It works equally well as a daily hydration tool off the bike or outside of training, and first thing in the morning is one of the most effective windows to use it, since most people wake up mildly dehydrated. Note: the product is not recommended for those under 15 years of age or during pregnancy.
