Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega Teen FAQ's
Everything you need to know before getting started.

The teenage brain is still actively developing — particularly the prefrontal cortex, which governs focus, emotional regulation, and decision-making. DHA is the primary structural fat of brain tissue, and EPA supports mood and healthy inflammatory response. Most teens don't get adequate amounts from diet alone, making consistent supplementation during these years especially valuable.
DHA is the structural building block of brain and eye tissue — it's what the brain is literally constructed from, and getting enough supports cognitive function, memory, and learning. EPA works alongside DHA to support healthy mood, normal inflammatory response, and nervous system function. This formula delivers meaningful doses of both: 586mg EPA and 456mg DHA per serving.
Fish oil comes in two main molecular forms: triglyceride and ethyl ester. The triglyceride form is the natural structure found in fish, and research shows it absorbs meaningfully better than the ethyl ester form used in many lower-cost products. Nordic Naturals uses the triglyceride form across all its fish oil products, which means more of what's on the label actually reaches your teen's bloodstream.
The dose is calibrated for ages 12–18 — 1,120mg total omega-3s versus 1,280mg in the adult Ultimate Omega. The soft gels are also mini-sized (roughly half the size of standard soft gels) and come in strawberry flavor rather than lemon, making them more appropriate and easier for teens to take daily.
Generally yes, but if your teen takes blood thinners or has a known medical condition, consult a physician before starting. Omega-3s at high doses can have mild blood-thinning effects. At the two-soft-gel daily dose, this is appropriate and well-tolerated for healthy teenagers.
