Somewhere below freezing, a regular cap stops being enough. Wind finds the gap at your ears, your scalp loses heat fast, and the run turns into a battle against the temperature before you have settled into your pace.
The HOTHCap is Ciele's answer for that range, built around real insulation rather than a windproof shell alone.
Wool and silk insulation built for genuine cold – The Sorino WS lining blends merino wool and recycled silk for real thermal warmth, delivering more than a windproof shell alone can provide once temperatures drop below freezing.
Earflaps and neck coverage that fold to match the conditions – The insulated earflaps and neck protection fold down when the wind turns sharp and fold back up once you have warmed into the run, so you are not stuck with one setting for the whole workout.
Venting that keeps you from overheating mid-run – The COOLmatic airBEAM top panel, carbon-infused for added temperature regulation, lets heat escape once you are working hard, so the same cap that holds in warmth at the start does not cook you by mile four.
The outer shell runs 100% recycled polyester with a C0 DWR finish, which sheds light moisture and blocks wind before it reaches the insulation underneath. That insulation is Sorino WS, a blend of 50% merino wool, 30% recycled silk, and 20% polyester, chosen for warmth without the bulk of a traditional winter liner. The vented top panel uses a stretch recycled polyester and elastane blend with a small amount of carbon worked in for the temperature-regulating effect noted above. Everything here is certified under the Global Recycle Standard, and the earflaps and brim pack down small enough to carry once you do not need them.
How to Use the HOTHCap
Fit: Choose S/M or L/XL, then use the quick-adjust closure to dial in your fit.
In sharp wind or deep cold: Fold the insulated earflaps and neck protection down for coverage.
Once you have warmed into the run: Fold them back up.
Care: Wash cold with like colors, skip the softener and the dryer, and hang it to dry to protect the insulation and the DWR finish.
