Cam Wurf
To say that this Australian legend is a ‘man of many talents’ would be an understatement. Cam Wurf is from Lord Howe Island, a tiny island of just 300 people nearly 400 miles east of Sydney, Australia. At age 10, he played off a golf handicap and became an Olympian in Athens at the 2004 Summer Games representing Australia in rowing, but after the Games, got tendinitis in his wrist and couldn’t row. He was given a bike trainer to stay in shape and was hooked. His wrist got better and he competed at another Rowing World Championships, but his heart was obsessed with cycling. Not many people go from golf to a world-class Olympic rower to then signing a World Tour cycling contract with Liquigas-Cannondale to not just transitioning to triathlon in 2017, but IRONMAN triathlons and getting supported by Team Ineos, but that’s Cam Wurf. He won his first IRONMAN Title in Wales in 2017, finished top 10 at the 2018 and 2019 IRONMAN World Championships, and more recently achieved 3 IRONMAN podiums in the 2024 season.
