LMNT
I was cramping on rides over 3-4 hours after years of no troubles - I tried adding electrolytes and drinking more, even though my hydration had worked previously. Finally discovered LMNT a few years ago, loved it immediately and started drinking it consistently during most/all rides, even on cooler days. I haven't had the cramping issues again. I can't be 100% certain it's the LMNT, but it would be an awfully big coincidence if it wasn't. It's delicious and it works well for me! Jordan - Jordan H.

I originally tried this in preparation for Race Across America. I usually drink water, but I recognized an event like RAAM required more. I first tested it during training. I… Read more

What we think
Salt is in.
New research suggests many people –especially athletes and those following paleo, keto, or low-carb diet– are actually under-salted. As athletes, we may already have proper hydration on our radar and most of us know that to stay properly hydrated, plain H2O just won’t cut it.
Why do we love them?
Working out in the heat adds to that need to replace lost electrolytes (especially salts).
There are a number of electrolyte products filling the gap – some quite terrible and loaded with sugar, toxic dyes and other junk you don't need. Then there are others that don’t have the sugar and other crap BUT they taste downright repulsive.
There are few that do it right. LMNT is at the top of that list.
What most of the popular electrolyte drinks on the market do wrong is include too low amounts of electrolytes and miss the mark on the “optimal ratio”.
What's in LMNT?
They give you more electrolytes in the ideal ratio:
- 1000 mg SODIUM
- 200 mg POTASSIUM
- 60 mg MAGNESIUM
Pioneered by Robb Wolf (biochemist and 2X New York Times/WSJ Best Selling author of The Paleo Solution and Wired To Eat), LMNT has taken the latest science and formulated an electrolyte mix that hits all the right salty notes in what the body actually needs (and doesn’t need).
What're my options?
It comes in a variety of flavors so tasty, you might just end up with a little addiction.
What flavor to choose? With seven different deliciously salty flavors, it can be hard to decide! To help you out, here’s our top picks:
Citrus and Orange Salt are two of our favorite flavors. Citrus salt tastes a little like a margarita, without the tequila. Of course, no reason you can’t celebrate a tough training session by throwing in a shot after your workout, right??
Chocolate salt is quite yummy too and makes a great addition to your morning or afternoon coffee.
Wanna spice things up? Give Mango Chile or Lemon Habanero a try. Interesting and tasty flavors with a hint of heat.
How to use it:
LMNT electrolyte mixes are easy to use, just drop a pack of your favorite flavor in your water bottle, shake and drink. They mix easily and won't get clumpy. You can adjust the flavor or saltiness concentration by adding more or less water to your preference. Drink one at the beginning of your workout and rehydrate with another pack postworkout.
Enjoy and be salty... the good kind.
