Let’s face it – applying sunscreen can be the worst, especially for athletes.
It’s either so thick that it leaves you sticky or it’s so oily and slick you’re as slippery as a fish. Either way, most sunscreens clog your pores (which affects your ability to sweat), sting your eyes, irritate your skin, or run off.
The solution is to find a performance-focused sunscreen that goes on easy, allows you to sweat, and will provide that safety all for your outdoor training. Yet, finding a sunscreen that checks all those boxes is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Why do I want it?
This is one of the most athlete-friendly sunscreens out there. It’s super easy to apply, not messy, doesn’t leave a greasy finish, and is extremely water/sweat resistant. Plus, it’s hypoallergenic scents mean it’s great for those with sensitivities.
In addition, the big issue that most sunscreens can’t overcome is the clogging of pores, which reduces your ability to sweat. Kinesys is non-comedogenic, meaning it doesn’t impair your body’s ability to sweat and vent that heat you are building up.
I mean, what else do you need to hear?
For cyclists especially, this is HUGE. Countless times, I’ve gotten 30min into a ride and all my sunscreen has found its way to my handlebars…or it’s so thick I feel like I have a long sleeve on.
What’re my options?
Kinesys comes in either a 1 or 4oz size. The 1oz is great for on-the-go and will get you dozens of activities. The 4oz will last you a surprisingly long time and has great value for the size.
It also comes in either a 30 or 50spf option. We get plenty of protection with just 30 and the difference is really unmeasurable, so this is up to you!
How do I use it?
You’ll want to apply the sunscreen about 20 minutes before your outdoor training session or before going outside, as it takes some time to activate and start blocking the sun.
Spray generously by holding the container 4”-6” away from your skin. Do not spray directly on your face. Spray on your hands and then apply to your face.
Do not apply in windy conditions. Use in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhaling or exposing others to the spray
Reapply at least every 2 hours or after 80 minutes of swimming, sweating, and immediately after towel drying.
