Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is an alkaline compound that increases your blood's ability to neutralize the hydrogen ions and acid that build up during intense exercise. By buffering this acidity, your muscles can maintain higher power output for longer before fatigue forces you to slow down.
FLYCARB's gel formulation significantly reduces GI issues compared to straight baking soda or capsules. However, always test it during training first—never try it for the first time on race day. Take it with a light meal 30 minutes before consuming, and avoid other nutrition 20 minutes before and after taking Bicarb.
No, to prevent GI issues and maintain effectiveness, you must mix the Energy and Bicarb components immediately before consumption. The chemical reaction that occurs when mixed is part of what makes it work, and pre-mixing reduces potency.
