How to wear the Firefly Knee Strap
Firefly is placed directly over the fibular head (round bone below joint line of the knee). Be careful not to impinge on the crease of the knee. This knee strap promotes ample security to the device and allowing it to stay fixed in a more reliable position on the leg. Great for use on longer travel or overnight during normal sleep cycles.
If you haven't heard about the Firefly device you can read about it below:
We’ve all heard the Moto: no pain no gain. The emphasis in training used to be to add more mileage or increase intensity.
In recent years we’ve learned the value of recovery. If your training load is exceeding your ability to properly recovery it usually results is overreaching followed by overtraining, injury, illness and more.
If you’ve ever been to a physical therapist, you’ve probably experienced electrical muscle stimulation. These devices can be quite expensive and be somewhat cumbersome with all of the wires and attachments. However, their efficacy has long been validated by Major league teams, NCAA teams, and just about every medical practitioner on the planet.
Meet Firefly… the latest innovation in sports recovery. The Firefly is an electric sports recovery device that stimulates the peroneal nerve on the knee to elicit a muscle contraction in the calf that stimulates blood flow.
The benefits are two-fold. By circulating blood to your heart faster you are going to get more oxygenation in your blood. Obviously, this is ideal for overall performance and recovery. Secondly, you are getting an increase in lower extremity microcirculation by 400%.
If your competition schedule requires heavy travel, you are trying to expedite recovery from an injury, or just performed a heavy training block Firefly is your secret weapon to faster recovery.
Recent research papers validate Firefly as a device to increase blood flow. However, the real benefits are validated when using diagnostic ultrasound. You can see the reduction in inflammation first hand as blood goes rushing through your lower extremities.
How to use the device
The firefly operates at 7 different intensity levels. Athletes typically wear from 2 - 4 hours. However, many athletes are wearing for the duration of overseas flights, or overnight as an aid from injury.
