Take 1 gel per hour for easy sessions under 60 minutes. Ramp up to 2-3 gels per hour for high-intensity efforts lasting 60-90 minutes, or 3-4 gels per hour for races and sessions over 90 minutes.
The 1:0.8 glucose-to-fructose ratio uses two separate absorption pathways in your gut. Glucose absorbs through one transporter, fructose through another—meaning your body can process more total carbs per hour without overloading a single pathway and causing GI distress.
Not necessarily. With 200mg sodium per gel, if you're taking 3-4 gels per hour, you're getting 600-800mg of sodium—which covers most athletes' needs. Add plain water and you're set for most conditions. In extreme heat or if you're a heavy sweater, consider adding a Cadence electrolyte sachet.
