Chirine Njeim
Chirine is originally from Lebanon and has competed in three Olympics (2002, 2006, 2010) in Alpine skiing. After the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010, Chirine traded mountains for the city and moved her life to Chicago to be with her husband.
Her older sister Nesrine, a competitive runner, encouraged her to enter the Chicago Marathon. She did and finished with a time of 3:07; that is when she caught the running bug.
She later competed in the Beirut Marathon with a top time of 2:49, catapulting herself to Lebanon's premier long-distance runner. Chirine then qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics after clocking a time of 2:44 in the Houston Marathon.
Chirine is that rare athlete who has competed in both the winter and summer games. She is continuing to put in the miles for her next competition.
