One of Rodeo Lab’s founders, Stephen Fitzgerald, has a family connection with a bakery in the Pacific Northwest. Bake Works is run by his dad and his brother and has been a family business for almost 20 years. When we say bakery, we mean a fully modern food creation facility that serves healthy (and guilty pleasure) products to millions of people around the USA every year. They had previously asked to sponsor a team, but didn’t have any products that fit well with sports nutrition. Enter Rodeo Labs.
Rodeo Labs decided to collaborate with them to dream up a bar of their own the way they wanted it done: Simple, all natural, and delicious. The result is the Rodeo Trail Nugget! Date-based with delicious mix ins like almonds, beets, lemon oil or peanut butter, these bars are all natural and totally delicious. The flavor is so light and pure, and the texture is soft enough to be eaten and digested easily. Everyone at The Feed, UNANIMOUSLY, says they are amazing! If you're looking for something new that will be the best bar you've ever tasted, you're going to want to order a few, or 40 trail nuggets!
Feed's Fave: Lemon Almond Hot Date
We use it 1-2 hours before low-intensity exercise or during long duration, low-intensity exercise. If you eat them during intense exercise, take small bites to allow for digestion.
Rip Van Wafels use simple NON-GMO ingredients, the same kind you’d use if you made them in your own kitchen like eggs, flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Plus a few nutritious ingredients like, oats, chickpea flour and flax seed oil for an extra dose of Omega 3s. They are soft, easy to chew and don’t pack an overdose of calories or carbs. They’re perfect.
We truly believe there is no wrong time to have a wafel. First thing in the morning they go great topped with greek yogurt, nuts and dried fruit or with a steaming cup of coffee. Mid-morning they make a great snack. Slap some nut butter on them and they make the perfect sandwich. Enjoy them placed on top of your 3pm cup of coffee as it cools down and taste a perfectly warmed wafel. Let them carry you through your evening workout, and if you give us time I’m sure we can find a way to make dinner with them.
Feed's Fave: Dutch Caramel and Vanilla
This versatile product can be consumed anytime. We like to take it with us and eat it on our way to a workout to make sure we have a properly fueled stomach.
GU Energy Gels have been a staple of fueling for endurance sports for the past 20 years. Created for daily training and competition, GU Energy Gel provides energy-dense calories in a portable packet to help sustain energy demands of any duration or activity. The 100-calorie packet contains carbohydrates (maltodextrin and fructose) that use non-competing pathways to help maximize carbohydrate absorption while diminishing stomach distress. Sodium, the primary electrolyte lost in sweat, aids in hydration by maintaining water balance and optimizing nutrient delivery. The branched-chain amino acids (leucine, valine, isoleucine) may reduce mental fatigue and decrease muscle damage. It is important to remember to always drink water when taking these gels, since water is used in the digestion process. Some flavors of these gels also contain caffeine to increase mental focus and decrease fatigue.
GU energy gels come in a wide variety of unique flavors so you’re sure to find one you like. Some of the Gu flavors have more caffeine than others. Caramel Macchiato, Espresso Love, and Jet Blackberry all have 40mg caffeine, while all other flavors marked with caffeine have 20mg. Peanut Butter, Strawberry Banana, Lemon Sublime, and Big Apple are the only flavors without any caffeine.
The Feed’s Fave: Vanilla Bean
Take one gel with 8 oz. of water 30-60 minutes before a training session or competition. Take one additional gel every hour of exercise, especially for training or competition lasting longer than 2 hours. As mentioned above, be sure to drink water with the gel to optimize its fuel delivery and prevent dehydration. Try these out in training first to see how your body responds to them before using them in competition.
Skratch has branched out and created their own energy chews; they call them Energy Chews. With the same focus on science and great ingredients, Skratch Labs Energy Chews use only real fruit for flavor, are loaded with sodium, are less sweet than most other chews, and utilize a specific ratio of fructose and glucose so you can get energy sooner. Skratch Labs Energy Chews have a higher moisture content which makes them less syrupy, sticky, or overly sweet. They also have a higher sodium content, about 160mg per pouch, which will help you replace those essential electrolytes lost through sweat during exercise. The blend of cane sugar and tapioca syrup better matches the ratio of transporters for glucose and fructose in the small intestine. This improves energy absorption so you can get the most out of every single Skratch Labs Energy Chews.
Skratch Labs Energy Chews don't use carnauba wax, coloring or flavoring agents, or excess ingredients that aren’t necessary. Skratch Labs Energy Chews are dipped in a sour sugarcoating to add a unique taste. They’re delicious, energizing, and the perfect chew to fuel your next workout. If you're interested in learning more about the science behind Energy Chews, click here to read a blog from Allen Lim PhD, co-founder of Skratch Labs.

Clif Bloks have been around since 2005, so we know they are a trusted and popular Clif product. These chews combine multiple sources of fast-absorbing carbohydrates, allowing them be used quickly and efficiently for fuel. They also changed the energy chew game when they first came on the scene by adding electrolytes to help replenish what you lose when you sweat and allow for optimal hydration and fuel delivery.
We love Clif Bloks because each cube is measured to deliver a precise amount of calories, carbohydrates, and electrolytes so you know exactly how much you’re getting. This makes it easier to calculate what you need to take with you for that long ride! Not to mention, the sleek and portable packaging make them perfect for a mid-workout energy boost. It is also key that you consume these chews with plenty of fluids, the technology of the Clif Bloks work best with adequate hydration.

One serving is three blocks, or half of a tube. During your workouts lasting longer than an hour, we suggest eating 2-3 blocks every 20-30 minutes. If you tend to have stomach issues with chews, eating less than 3 blocks at a time may be more manageable. The key is once you begin eating blocks, or any fast-acting energy, you need to continue consuming them throughout your workout. The sleek packaging makes them easy to slip into your jersey pocket and eat them on the go!
