Sometimes you ride to train. Sometimes the sole purpose of a ride is to make it to a certain general store, cafe, gas station, rest stop or mom and pop, kitschy, one-of-a-kind pastry shop. We like to call these special places, Local Feed Zones. Note: Just because you're riding to a place to fill up on "treats," doesn't mean you should skip eating and hydrating along the way. Be smart, especially since you probably still need to be able to ride yourself back home.
The first "Local Feed Zone" we'd like to feature is Tee & Cakes. Located in Boulder, Colorado every Friday morning, this aptly named, "Doughnut Ride" meets in the wee-hours of Friday morning, pedals for an hour and arrives promptly at Tee & Cakes as it opens.
This morning the ride took a hillier route - really making people earn their doughnuts.
Topping out for a nice view.
Then a fast descent, avoiding deer (not pictured) to Tee & Cakes.
Although Tee & Cakes offers other delicious delights, donuts are the rule.
